Golf History

Golf has one of the most glorious histories of any sport still played. It is said that golf started off from a game played on the eastern coast of Scotland in the Kingdom of Fife during the 15th century. Players used to hit a pebble around a natural course of sand dunes, rabbit runs and tracks using a stick or ancient club.

Whatever the exact origins, it is known that by the 15th century, "kolf" as it was recognized in the Netherlands and "goff" as it was referred to in England, was a pastime enjoyed by Kings and Commoners alike. Golf's importance and fame quickly spread throughout the 16th century due to its royal support.

It is adequate to know that the game was born on the links land of eastern Scotland. Here, the game has been promoted for over five hundred years and from here, it has been raised to the great game played and loved by millions throughout the world.
