The Market Bar

The Market Bar is a marvellous pub for Dublin city centre with a splendid locality in the old sausage factory in the George's Street Arcade.

Inside the sky-lit centre the original red-brick walls are maintained, tall plants are intermingled around rustic wooden benches creating a warm and earthy effect.

With the stimulating deficiency of any backdrop music all you can hear is the hum of people talking and the cooking sounds from the kitchen which faces out openly into the bar. The Market Bar has got plenty of seats around well-built tables that get filled very quickly on any night after Tuesday. The redbrick and iron girder interior has been cleaned and restored - most obviously in the middle arch that has been almost completely rebuilt.

The Market Bar was Dublin's first gastro bar and serves from a wide-ranging Mediterranean tapas menu. Graze on anchovies, olives and almonds or feast on steamed mussels and tortillas. The extensive red-brick Gothic construction that is the precinct is one of the finest buildings in Dublin, so to secure a large Dublin pub premises here is something of a coup for the owners.
